The LineWatch family of sensors can be used to montitor low (LineWatch L) and medium (LineWatch M) voltage systems.
Here’s how they work:
LineWatch L is a single integrated unit designed for use in both single and three-phase applications for monitoring the performance of a distribution system on the low voltage (up to 600V) secondary lines of the grid. It features data acquisition, analysis and communications capabilities. LineWatch L can be modified to use the utility’s preferred communications platform including IPV6 mesh, cell modem, etc. to send data back to the utility operations center for actionable analysis.
LineWatch M is designed to monitor the primary lines of the distribution grid up to 36 kilovolts. The monitors can be configured for either single or three-phase monitoring of the medium voltage lines for various smart grid applications including distribution automation, fault detection, asset management, volt/var optimization and revenue assurance. The feeder meters use a patented capacitive voltage divider for voltage measurements and a Rogowski coil to provide non-contacting current measurements. This system does not require a neutral connection, facilitating fast, safe and low cost deployment of the devices. The Feeder Meter can be modified to use the utility’s preferred communications platform including IPV6 mesh, cell modem, etc. to send data back to the utility operations center for actionable analysis.
